A Stunning Transformation: Home Renovation Project in Donaghmede, Dublin

Renovating a home can be a daunting task, but this family home in Donaghmede was ready for a complete overhaul.

As close to a rebuild as it gets

They were looking for one complete space that would be perfect for family time, for relaxing, and for entertaining, with plenty of height and as much natural light as possible. This precast concrete house presented its own unique challenges, but our team was well-equipped to handle them. We were delighted to take on this challenge and double the footprint of the existing property, making this home renovation project as close to a rebuild as it gets!

Complete Renovation

Groundworks for the extension were completed first, followed by a complete demolition of the existing interior. We reconfigured the bedrooms, bathrooms, and hot press, creating walk-in wardrobes and installing new herringbone floors throughout the house.

The kitchen and internal doors were completely redone, with two ensuites, a main bathroom, and a toilet and washbasin added off a new doorway. The living space was separated from the private quarters, creating a functional layout for the family’s needs. A new fuse box, new ESB tail lines, and new gas lines were brought in for safety and convenience.

High Quality Finishes

We used high-quality materials and attention to detail throughout the project. The kitchen was equipped with an electric cooker, pantries, counter tops, Belfast sink, instant hot water tap, double fridges and freezers. The house was fully rewired, with additional security cameras and internet points installed. Exterior renders replaced the old red brick, while a roof extension featuring a mixture of tiled and fiberglass roofing, with 9 fixed windows, created a bright and open feel in the house.

Stand Out Features

One of the standout features of the project was the exterior view, which incorporated a 5m wide bi-folding unit that allowed for easy access to the outdoors. The height of the job was also impressive, with a new vaulted ceiling in the main kitchen living room area. We worked with an engineer to ensure that the steel and structural work was done correctly.

The addition of a side room extension featuring a fiberglass roof, and a Romeo and Juliet ensuite that serviced two bedrooms, were also highlights of the project. The customer was able to pick all of the sanitary wear, which added to the overall style and quality of the home renovation.

Our Project Highlight

The GT Carpentry team was proud of the industrial New York style finish of the back of the property and internal kitchen door framework and glasswork. The client was extremely happy with the end result, which was a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication to the project.

This project was no small feat, taking a total of 8 months from start to finish. The sheer vastness of the project was noteworthy, with visitors able to walk 30m from the front of the property to the back.

Overall, this home renovation project was a huge success, with the team delivering a stunning and functional space for this Dublin family to call home.
