Home Extension and Kitchen Renovation Dublin

Project Description:

Check out this complete home extension and renovation project completed by the GT Carpentry team including a two-storey extension and kitchen renovation, facilitating an additional bedroom and bathroom for the customers.

Customer Goals

The customers wanted a new kitchen layout. Their old kitchen was geared towards hosting and entertaining whereas the new kitchen is more family orientated and a better use of space for the family’s changing needs. They also wanted to add an extra bathroom and bedroom to the property and to protect the stunning marble floors during the renovation project. 

Speed of completion was also a big factor for these customers.

Home Extension

The home was extended to allow for a new bathroom and new bedroom on the first floor of the property. Timber frame construction was used on top rather than brickwork to all it to be put up and weathered as soon as possible, with panels pre-fabricated to ensure speed.

In just 4 days the structure was up, and it was all weathered and sealed in another 4-5 days. A crane was used to allow the supporting steel beam to be installed more quickly and more safely, keeping the project timelines in check.

GT Carpentry implemented all structural works, plastering, insulation, electrical works, plumbing, flooring, windows and carpets, as well as doors, frames and skirting.

Kitchen Renovation

The kitchen was entirely redesigned. An original island unit had been overpowering in the room so the layout was opened up, creating a lot more free floor space which has made a big impact on the kids’ play area.

Natural light is brought into the kitchen through glazed roof windows with glass panels on the first floor to facilitate the light reaching the kitchen. It’s a stunning feature piece that the kids have a blast with – and a real face your fear moment for guests.

The new modern kitchen comes with all of the latest features that make for a comfortable, functional and efficient  space such as an instant hot water tap, induction hob with extractor fan in the middle, and some feature ceiling lights.

Time To Complete

The project had to be carefully timed to have optimal weather conditions when removing the roof to facilitate the extension. It took just 14 weeks to complete, from start to finish!
